Volunteers are trained in active listening skills, offering emotional support, referrals and general mental health competency to support students and staff dealing with issues such as academic stress, burnout, loneliness, depression, anxiety, substance use, mental health, relationship struggles, sexual violence, LGBTQ2S+ identity, or grief. The Education and Outreach Branch provides substance use and harm reduction education including free Naloxone training, harm reduction supplies, safe sex supplies, fentanyl test strip distribution, and workshops for the greater UBC community. Book an appointment online or drop-in during operating hours. Drop-in hours are 10 am to 5 pm Monday to Friday.

  Provides nonjudgmental emotional support to people of all genders who are survivors of sexualized and/or intimate partner violence and their friends and family members.

  Provides nonjudgmental emotional support to people of all genders who are survivors of sexualized and/or intimate partner violence and their friends and family members. Serves UBC students, staff, faculty, and people with a connection to the UBC campus; anyone who is ineligible will be referred to appropriate services. Services include emotional and short-term crisis support; information about options; accompaniment to police, court, and hospital; advocacy in dealing with medical, justice, and campus systems; assistance with third-party reports; and referrals to community agencies. Roots and Resilience is an arts-based support group for survivors of sexual violence; group runs once a semester for eight weeks from 5 pm to 7 pm on Tuesdays; contact office to complete an intake. Also acts as a harm reduction site, offering fentanyl test strips, naloxone kits, needle disposal, free safer sex supplies, including condoms, lubricant, pregnancy tests, and menstrual products. Also offers public education and volunteer opportunities, and has a resource library. All services are free, confidential, and conducted in a private setting and are available through in-person appointments or drop-ins, by phone, or by email. Drop-in and phone support hours are 9 am to 8 pm Monday to Friday and 11 am to 7 pm Saturdays and Sundays. Hours for hospital accompaniments are 8 am to 8 pm, seven days a week.

  A free three-month program to enhance the mobility and health of BC seniors.

  A free three-month program to enhance the mobility and health of BC seniors. Combines a person-centred approach with opportunities for seniors to connect. Open to adults age 65 and up who would like support to become active. Participants work with a trained activity coach who helps them develop a tailor-made physical activity plan based on personal interests, abilities, and income. Individuals choose activities they will enjoy and are able to do. Activities can range from organized fitness classes (e.g., Tai Chi, yoga) to individual activities they do on their own schedule (e.g., gardening, walking). Seniors learn to monitor and adjust their goals and activities with support from their activity coach. Facilitated group meetings provide a space for participants to share experiences, ideas, and information (e.g. self-care), and to actively engage with their community. Offered throughout BC; see website for list of program locations and providers. Also available online and over-the-phone. Call or email preferred location to register; participants must attend an information session. Offered by the Active Aging Society in partnership with YMCA and the BC Recreation and Parks Association. Funded by Ministry of Health (MOH), and evaluated by the Active Aging Research Team.

  Offers low-cost dental care for individuals of all ages, during the academic year; treatment includes complex/multiple crowns and dentures. Services are provided by students under supervision of the dental faculty; acceptance of patients will depend on the educational needs of the students. After completing a Patient Contact Form, individuals will be contacted for a screening appointment to determine if the patient needs are compatible with the program. If an individual is accepted by the program and chooses to continue as a patient, fees for examination, x-rays, and screening registration fee will be charged. Also provides urgent care services for relief of pain to non-registered patients; appointment is required. Fees are 20% to 40% less than the fee schedule recommended by the BC Dental Association for dentists in private practice. General dentistry clinic hours are 8 am to 12:30 pm and 2 pm to 5 pm Monday to Friday. Emergency dentistry hours are 2 pm to 5 pm Tuesdays, 9:30 am to 12:30 pm and 2 pm to 5 pm Thursdays, and 2 pm to 5 pm on Fridays; an appointment is required. Clinic open during the academic year from the end of August until the end of June.

The Problematic Substance Use Clinic is a low-barrier outpatient treatment service for individuals seeking help to reduce harm associated with their use of alcohol or other substances. Treatment provided by doctoral level psychology students under supervision of a psychologist who is an expert in the field of substance use. Fees for services are on a sliding scale based on income, and range from $10 to $80 per hour. Accepts referrals from self or others. Hours are 8:00 am to 4:00 pm Monday to Friday.
