Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) - Richmond

Delivers health care and support services through a network of health centres, hospitals, primary care clinics, residential care homes, and other facilities. Services include home and community care, mental health and substance use, health protection, public health, acute care, and other specialized programs. Free Take Home Naloxone Kits (Narcan) used to reverse the effects of overdoses from opioids (like fentanyl, heroin, methadone, morphine, and oxycodone), are available at all hospitals, public health units, mental health and substance use offices, and other facilities throughout the health authority region. Responsible for service delivery on behalf of Ministry of Health (MOH). Office hours are 8:30 am to 5 pm Monday to Friday.

Services offered include nutrition and prenatal lifestyle counselling; food supplement and prenatal vitamins; breastfeeding information; food coupons; labour and delivery information; community referrals; education about smoking, alcohol, and drug concerns; and prenatal and parent/infant groups. Home Support provides assistance with medications, bathing, and dressing for clients who are ill or recovering from illness or surgery, have physical disabilities, require personal assistance or respite for a caregiver, or need end-of-life care. Nursing Services may include assessment, education, counselling, and medical and surgical care at home. Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy referrals are for clients who have a physical disability, are recovering from surgery or hospital stay, or who need rehabilitation or therapy to stay at home. Educational support for people who are impacted by a family member's substance use is available. Acupuncture is also available. Referral required from a health professional for mental health counselling; self-referrals are accepted for substance use counselling and concurrent mental health and substance use. Serves Richmond. Service may be available in Cantonese and Mandarin, depending on staff availability. Free interpretation service is available for various languages.
